Creation of a brochure for LE FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE DANSE EXPERIMENTALE.


To promote their various shows, the brief was to create a booklet and branding that reflected the experimental atmosphere of the dance festival. By blending contrasting shapes, textures, and elements from different design eras, I captured this idea aiming to create something unconventional and boundary-pushing, much like the inventive nature of experimental dance.

Texture

Cement is used as a frame for the images. This is a texture characteristic of brutalist architecture, and brings a modern element to the design spread.  The overlapping position of the grainy textures also creates a feeling of friction, hinting at the provocative feelings elicited by this dance form.

Opacity

The circle and glowy opacity effect is meant to resemble
a spotlight, but does not reveal the whole picture. This effect alludes to the idea that the story behind an experimental dance, is often veiled, and left to the interpretation of
the viewer.
